  1. for those hitting Record Store Day tomorrow, there is a 10" blue vinyl sampler from this record being made available ...
  2. Turns out she was one of the top horse breeders in the world, all funded by the fraud. Apparently she took twelve weeks of unpaid vacation in 2011 (in addition to four paid weeks). So she took off 16 weeks in 2011 and at some point during her absence, her replacement detected the fraud. Most people who commit this type of fraud rarely take time off, for obvious reasons. How in the world did she think she could skate by for sixteen weeks??? Disgusting, yet rather fascinating.
  3. these are showing up at amazon as imports for $20 ...
  4. Yeah man, could not agree more. To a certain extent, this board fills a bit of the void many of us feel ...
  5. Don't believe the Horizon lps have come out on CD. The three Atlantic lps from the 70s were reissued by Wounded Bird a couple years ago. Much better music on the Horizons however.

  11. Only know the answer to your 3rd question, to which the answer is yes.
  12. Doesn't this mean that some Amazon Marketplace seller is making CDRs and selling them? Has Amazon transferred rights to manufacture CDRs "on demand" to select Tom, Dick and Harrys? Seems questionable to me but I guess its kosher. I thought they had contracted with (a single) 3rd party to do this for them, but I could be wrong. I have bought a couple of these over the past year (?) or so. Sound-wise seemed fine, but you could tell on the graphics. Kind of raises an interesting question - do you download somewhere or get the CD-R (both through legal channels of course)? All things being equal I am a "physical media" kind of guy, but this seems to diminish when the physical product is "not quite" the real thing.
  13. thanks for the recommendations guys ... just found a good home for my Barnes & Noble gift card

    Junior Cook

Cook is on three of these (all but the 1969 date). A few sound issues on one of the dates (keys, not horns), but otherwise they smoke. Very much worth hearing. http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/freddie-hubbard/
  15. Jim (and/or others) - any suggestions on the Steeplechase material? There is more than just a little out there ...
  16. http://jazztimes.com/articles/29128-resonance-to-release-lost-wes-montgomery-tapes-in-march and http://www.amazon.com/Echoes-Indiana-Avenue-Wes-Montgomery/dp/B006O4OLV0/ref=sr_1_4?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1324453148&sr=1-4 Sounds pretty interesting - from the guys who did the live Freddie Hubbard set last year.
  17. Yep, still slumming' on the Kansas side ... I have been fooling them so far ... much to my amazement. Need to find another small company/start-up where I can make a difference ... I keep failing the Steve Jobs test when I look in the mirror every morning
  18. Hey Bill - thanks for the kind wishes with the Jayhawk touch! Spent much of the weekend in Lawrence with family ... does not get any better than that!

Hope all is well - Eric

  20. Ahhhh, thanks to all of you and Bill in particular - I love it! This was the big 5-0, so I celebrated by catching the KU basketball game on Friday night, the KU football game on Saturday night and then we drove to Salina (home to Acoustic Sounds) to see Lindsey Buckingham. Had my kids, my girlfriend of 8 years and her kids ... it was a great time. And to top it off, I was presented with the new Wes Verve set this am!!! It does not get any better
