No offense but we in the US have been getting hit hard with the exchange rates so I'm not upset to see the Euro take a hit. For those going to Europe, we'll get more bang for the buck, so to speak.
Not sure Burton would do it for me at least not a whole box set's worth. I'd like to have the early 60s stuff but not the later fusion type material. Chu Berry would be something. Is that on the drawing board or just a wish?
Marcus raises a good point but also to see all you guys, find out what's going on, get advise, see what's selling. If I hadn't seen Tony's post, I wouldn't have scored the Miles Gil Evans set from him on ebay. So this is a great organic place.
Anything by Earl Hines basically. No longer available but if you see it get is Mosaic's Master Jazz Piano. It's all solos and exquisite. I think one of the better Mosaics they put out.
I'm not too sure about the Cannonball but what the hell, I'll get it. The one I definitely won't be picking up is Johnny Smith; he's just too laid back for me. I've got the Moonlight in Vermont they put out separate from the Mosaic and while one is ok, I can't see buying another.
Might pick up the June Christy. Would like to check her out. Plus the others on the list too, esp. Jones/Lewis.
B for B,
I was at JRC a couple of months ago and Fred had gotten rid of all the trays he had for the Fresh Sound Cds. It was a little disappointing. The selection wasn't what it used to be cd wise.

I'd like to know if there's more of those Great Jazz Trios out there. At that age, I'm not wondering about ragin' against the light. Just takin it easy would be my motto.
That's amazing. I wouldn't think a story like this would have repeated itself. They'd probably die is right when they see what the whole world, not just Japan, has become.
I don't think all of them TOCJs but many are. I have the Dizzy At the Village Vanguard Span. Blue Note and since I've never seen that in cd, I'm hanging on to it.
Here's some more:
Sonny Berman - Jazz Immortal 1946 - Esoteric Records ES-532 (Venus Records 79505)
Al Haig Quartet – Period SPL 1104 (Venus TKCZ-79501)
Al Haig – Jazz Will-o-the-Wisp – Esoteric (Venus TKCZ-79529)
Eddie Higgins - Music of Jobim: Speaking of Love - Venus (TKCV-35132)
Art Pepper with the Sonny Clark Trio - Holiday Flight - Lighthouse 1953 - Venus Records (TKCZ-79005)
Only regret is the Jones Lewis set but that went oop before I was a jazz fan so I'm not that upset. In that vein, would have loved to have the Shorty Rogers but not at today's prices.
That's Paul Smith (listed as Irving Garner on the original LP) playing harpsichord.

The only other harpsichord I've heard jazz wise is Artie Shaw's Grammercy Five Sessions. There it sounded ok. Here, I would have preferred piano.
