  1. No offense but we in the US have been getting hit hard with the exchange rates so I'm not upset to see the Euro take a hit. For those going to Europe, we'll get more bang for the buck, so to speak.
  2. Arizona may have the best but that's just one place. NYC has tons of good places. You just can't go wrong; it's the capital.
  3. Thanks for posting this brownie. Didn't know Telarc had that much clout. Never really paid that much attention to them.
  4. Not sure Burton would do it for me at least not a whole box set's worth. I'd like to have the early 60s stuff but not the later fusion type material. Chu Berry would be something. Is that on the drawing board or just a wish?
  5. Damn, now I'm pissed at myself. Got to get into the city. Thanks for the tip.
  6. Marcus raises a good point but also to see all you guys, find out what's going on, get advise, see what's selling. If I hadn't seen Tony's post, I wouldn't have scored the Miles Gil Evans set from him on ebay. So this is a great organic place.
  7. Missed out on it so I'm forced to rely on the single issue cd. Same story with the Basie Roulette Studio
  8. Black Lion:
  9. Anything by Earl Hines basically. No longer available but if you see it get is Mosaic's Master Jazz Piano. It's all solos and exquisite. I think one of the better Mosaics they put out.
  10. I'm not too sure about the Cannonball but what the hell, I'll get it. The one I definitely won't be picking up is Johnny Smith; he's just too laid back for me. I've got the Moonlight in Vermont they put out separate from the Mosaic and while one is ok, I can't see buying another. Might pick up the June Christy. Would like to check her out. Plus the others on the list too, esp. Jones/Lewis.
  11. B for B, I was at JRC a couple of months ago and Fred had gotten rid of all the trays he had for the Fresh Sound Cds. It was a little disappointing. The selection wasn't what it used to be cd wise. ←
  12. I've got Good Move so how does the Prestiges differ?
  13. Man, it's about time, Leo go his due. Thanks for the info Kevin.
  14. I don't even open them, just delete them. They're all hoaxes.
  15. I'd like to know if there's more of those Great Jazz Trios out there. At that age, I'm not wondering about ragin' against the light. Just takin it easy would be my motto.
  16. It's not only the Republican look, it's the corporate look. Give me a bunch of non-conformists anyday.
  17. It's no bid deal in my book. Heck, they'll be so busy at the wedding nyway that it's probably better it comes afterwards.
  18. A belated one to our leader, founder and yes, savior!
  19. That's amazing. I wouldn't think a story like this would have repeated itself. They'd probably die is right when they see what the whole world, not just Japan, has become.
  20. I don't think all of them TOCJs but many are. I have the Dizzy At the Village Vanguard Span. Blue Note and since I've never seen that in cd, I'm hanging on to it.
  21. Tony, Thanks for posting these. I'll be sticking in bids for all 3 of these gems.
  22. Here's some more: Sonny Berman - Jazz Immortal 1946 - Esoteric Records ES-532 (Venus Records 79505) Al Haig Quartet – Period SPL 1104 (Venus TKCZ-79501) Al Haig – Jazz Will-o-the-Wisp – Esoteric (Venus TKCZ-79529) Eddie Higgins - Music of Jobim: Speaking of Love - Venus (TKCV-35132) Art Pepper with the Sonny Clark Trio - Holiday Flight - Lighthouse 1953 - Venus Records (TKCZ-79005)
  23. I don't believe that's the Mosaic way. That would just make them like anybody else.
  24. Only regret is the Jones Lewis set but that went oop before I was a jazz fan so I'm not that upset. In that vein, would have loved to have the Shorty Rogers but not at today's prices.
  25. That's Paul Smith (listed as Irving Garner on the original LP) playing harpsichord. ← The only other harpsichord I've heard jazz wise is Artie Shaw's Grammercy Five Sessions. There it sounded ok. Here, I would have preferred piano.
