  1. Yeah, I dig trios as a whole across various instrumentation combos. I just struggle with Evans these days. Wish I could articulate why but can't at the moment.
  2. You mean that's not Bill Cosby, Bill Clinton and Buck Clayton, AKA Two Bills & A Buck ???
  3. Pete Rock & J Dilla records are always good.
  4. When I first started getting into jazz and was exploring trios I enjoyed a lot of Evans albums and subsequently bought a good number of them across labels/lineups. Lately I've been struggling with listening to them, and it's a pretty strong reaction in that I can't finish these albums at all. After 2 or 3 songs it's enough for me and as a result, I've stacked up these Evans titles for a possible cull. Holding off because I've regretted doing that in the past. Definitely possible I could come back to enjoying these but for right now I'm not digging Bill Evans.
  5. Eh, fine the guy and move on.
  6. All good here man.
  7. Wow. Thanks for the link. Anyone ordered from them before?
  8. This one was on the Jazz Times Top 40 jazz albums for 2021. I listened and enjoyed it, but that was after listening to Mike LeDonne's new big band album (also from that list). I think the contrast made it interesting. Haven't played it since, so I'll have to give it another listen.
  9. That’s awful. She must have been in so much pain prior to that operation. RIP. I really need to check out more of her work.
  10. I don't but the Discovery Records reissue looks to be available at affordable prices https://www.discogs.com/release/3478452-Warne-Marsh-Group-Featuring-Sal-Mosca-Sam-Jones-And-Roy-Haynes-How-Deep-How-High
  11. Looks like this website is now songtradr. com
  12. Sounds like some really interesting quiet storm/smooth jazz. They effectively weave in some harmonizing disparate elements that you don't get from typical smooth jazz cruise acts, along with an at-times ominous soundscape. I dig it.
  13. Lots: Ron McLure Bill Mobley Bill Easley Gerald Clayton Earma Thompson The list goes on...
  14. Aha, so I had heard him before! Only this time I'm aware it's him playing.
  15. I've got no problem with CD-Rs if it's advertised as such. I can make an informed decision at that point. Unfortunately most are marketed as CDs, and that's the problem from my POV.
  16. Thanks for the heads up!
  17. This was just reissued on vinyl via the BN Classic series. That's probably why it's been all over social media these days.
  18. Thanks for the rec on this album. Listening and really enjoying it. First I've ever heard from Bill Easley.
  19. Terrible news. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP
  20. Spending some time with these albums sounds like a great idea The Jacquet albums here were really enjoyable.
  21. So Kenny Garrett and Brian Lynch are considered young lions huh? I didn’t know that. I enjoy their albums, esp their newest output.
  22. Would make a good box set then. Probably not Mosaic's scope these days but the sound and style did remind me of those Bee Hive albums.
  23. Listening to the Jacquet Black & Blue album Jacquet's Street this morning and loving it. Anyone know who's doing all the grunting and hollering on that recording? Is it Oliver Jackson? Was this the Black & Blue label that Mosaic was doing a set of? Indeed. I have and love a couple of those Basie Bunch CDs and they're excellent.
  24. I don't have enough of either of these labels. From Tribe I have the Pure Pleasure LP reissue of Nurnen and the Tribe reissue of Message From. Only one Rudolph Johnson Black Jazz album.
