Been terrible about new uploads lately but here are two new ones.   Well over two years ago I determined that a tape marked September 1, 1988 - Pomona NY in the Leonard Gaskin Papers might very well be the music for a photo received that was marked September 2, 1988, Pomona NY showing Percy France, guitarist Joel Perry, Leonard Gaskin and Ronnie Cole.  It took an unconscionable amount of time but the Smithsonian finally let me know this was digitized and I received it and indeed ... the last known Percy France recording to come out of Leonard Gaskin's archive. And just in time because the person in charge of digitization requests retired on May1 and the Smithsonian has no solid plans to replace her. Watermelon Man has never been heard on any of the recordings I have secured, from Gaskin's collection or Phil Schaap's, so the fact that it is an incomplete performance, fading in on Percy's solo, must be forgiven.     BTW this turns out to be a private party presumably at someone's home - a dog is heard barking several times in succession but he stops when the music resumes, and even better the audience does not overwhelm the music at any time.  They must have dug what they heard.

Kenny Burrell with Art Blakey “On View At the Five Spot.Cafe” Blue Note Japan SHM-SACD I have about five versions of this on cd and SACD and this one is THE one to listen to. And has additional material. I have listned to the new UHQCD set and it sounds really good too, but this one just has that edge goosing it into the “best” category that SACD always seems to have in my system. Worth the wait for sure!

That's cool. I don't do files or stream. Some day if I am feeling really confident and adventurous I may try the downloading and burning to cdr. . . but that won't be soon.

Bandcamp has her whole digital catalog (17 releases!) for under $60 if purchased as a whole.

Great! This cd was cheap compared to what I see of her others. . . and I'm not sure there are downloads. If there are that's a good way to go.
