  1. Hmm... I'm leaning toward the Murray and Konitz.. Might add the Lacy.. Have we confirmed the availability at a US order site?? Amazon doesn't have it. Neither does importcds.com
  2. Just preordered it on Concord's website... I'm looking forward to catching her at Newport this summer.. Haven't seen her in a long time.
  3. Picked up a few more releases from Smallslive. I haven't come across a bad one yet....

  7. Tommorow night.... Brad Melhdau and friends doing his Highway Rider project. From the venue's website... "One of the foremost jazz pianists of his generation, Brad Mehldau performs the Boston premiere of his exciting and unique new work for two pianos, six winds and percussion. Featuring an all-star cast of world-renowned musicians, including pianist Timothy Andres, vocalist Becca Stevens, saxophonists Chris Cheek, Chris Potter, Joshua Redman, Joris Roelofs, Sam Sadigursky and Greg Tardy, with additional artists to be announced, this new work continues Mehldau’s penchant for jazz exploration, classical romanticism and pop allure and builds on his ever-expanding body of compositional work. Pianist Kevin Hays joins Mehldau on the first portion of the program, performing both solo and duo piano pieces." I've been listening a lot to him this week and am REALLY looking forward to it!
  8. How is it?? Seems a little pricey but I might have to consider it. I assume these are live dates? Who's in the band? Thanks I have it - it came out in '92.
  9. Glad you got it.. It's my Top 5 Mosaics...
  10. Count Basie Live Roulette Recordings Disc 2.. Went through Discs 1, 3 and 4 in the car... No matter how much I hear Joe Williams I am so grateful I got to see him perform live...
  11. Caught her at the Newport Jazz Festival last year and she was quite impressive...
  12. Woo Hoo!!!! Great news... We'll take it!
  13. I've been listening to the entire Tal Farlow set in my car... This is one of the very few times I've been compelled to listen to an entire set in sequence (more than a few times). I repeatedly find both the music and sound quality outstanding... I love this set. (Thanks Ron S.)... This set has long been one of my top 5 and this process is just reaffirming that.
  14. That's sad news...
  15. thanks for the heads up on that one.. Just grabbed it... $15 is too good to pass up.... :excited:
  16. Good question... Those of who had the Albums/cd's... ?????
  17. I thoroughly enjoyed the Monk book... What's the new going to be about? The title doesn't say much.
  18. Oh this is horrible.... I'll be there next week!! Thanks for everything Jack! I guess the cat is out of the bag. Yes, we will be gone at the end of March. Until then, it's business as usual.
  19. I have the Johnny Smith set... I would say it's good not great... It does get a fair amount of play in my house.... Not close to the Farlow but a good set nonetheless.
  20. Ahmad Jamal Disc 7... Can't get enough of this set...  I assume no one's still on the fence about this one, right????
  21. I have it and that's not my experience of it.
  22. I was listening to a couple CDs from the Sonny Stitt set in my car... Hadn't listened to that set in years..... I'm surprised this one is still in print....
