I've been listening to the entire Tal Farlow set in my car... This is one of the very few times I've been compelled to listen to an entire set in sequence (more than a few times). I repeatedly find both the music and sound quality outstanding... I love this set. (Thanks Ron S.)... This set has long been one of my top 5 and this process is just reaffirming that.

I have the Johnny Smith set... I would say it's good not great... It does get a fair amount of play in my house.... Not close to the Farlow but a good set nonetheless.

I have it and that's not my experience of it.

I was listening to a couple CDs from the Sonny Stitt set in my car... Hadn't listened to that set in years..... I'm surprised this one is still in print....

It is a pretty good set... From what I remember Mike Manieri's playing is also a highlight....

No not really... I just take the tack that most Mosaic sets are worth buying...(I just make Mosaic sets a moderately high discretionary item....) You must have plenty of green to spare if you're ready to spring for a Mosaic box on a group you don't dig.

I continue to see a plethora of typos and misspellings since more and more organizations/companies increase their online/blog sites... Horrible...

Although I've never been a huge MJQ fan... I think I probably will get this set and try to give them another try....

So does this mean that Hip-O-Select is the new bully on the block... My main issue is that their stuff is really overpriced (presumably justified by them with extremely mediocre and unnecessary packaging...)... I thought we were done with BAD overpriced packaging at the end of the 1990s :(

I don't get this partnership at all... Hip-O-Select is a relatively new player with overpriced recordings and mediocre packaging... Why not release the Getz as a Mosaic Select? I hope this is not a portend of things to come....

Can's really answer any of your questions but it was a great label... I got a lot of those when they came out especially the two-fers... Only wish I had gotten those Woody Shaw two-fers....

I'd go with the Jazz Crusaders.. It's a fun set.. don't have the Parker though... Can't get into the solos only thing...

Bummer... Cindy would have fixed this..... My Turrentine box recently came with no number - not in the booklet, not on the receipt. I asked Mosaic for the #, and got this reply from Scott: "The booklets are pre-numbered and therefore we have no idea what each set is numbered. This is one of the downfalls of the economy as we are now just 3 people in offices, while a fulfillment house a few miles away is where the warehouse is. Sorry for the inconvenience." Music's still great, though.

The numbers are no longer on the inside of the booklet. Look at the back. Their either on the back cover or inside back cover. Got through the first 8 discs.. Sounds fine to me... There's a couple of tracks with minor problems but it's fine.

just got mine yesterday.. #186 ... This will definitely help grading all these god awful exams ..... :rolleyes:
