  1. Is there a source for your info? I cannot find any listing of the contents of this box? No. But partly yes: the box's title ... content should thus be pretty clear. With the only question being if those stray cuts released on other albums/compilations ("Misterioso" was yet another, and that two LP set from the seventies, "Always Know") will be added or not. Regarding remasterings I don't know, but with such cheap-ish reissues I'd not expect them to remaster anything they previously reissued. I would like to know specifics about that, too (Lon, if you have some to offer, please step up! I'm not doubting your insight at all, I just wonder if for instance "Let My Children Hear Music" was remastered; to my best knowledge, the Bessie Smith box was not when it should have; and I wonder if "Big Band and Quartet in Concert" might be ...) I'd like to see the unreleased Brandeis University (65) & Mexico (67) material - some of this has had Columbia releases
  2. Currently listening to the Dial Mosaic box & have noticed that the discography lists Arvin Garrison in The Gillespie/Tempo Jazzmen (Feb 6) All previous discographies (I've seen) omit him - he was definitely present (audible & actually solos) on the previous day's aborted session (with Parker) I've listened to all of the titles from the Feb 6 session & can't hear a guitar - looks like the Mosaic booklet is in error - the discography also dates the second session as Feb 5 while in the notes (p 8) Feb 6 is listed.
  3. Cheers Chuck Also, Clifford, the above video of the 1970 concert mentions Fontella in the introductory dialogue (plus the quintet)
  4. I'm wondering if the so called Paris concert (originally released by BYG Japan in 1974) is actually the 1970 "Chateauvallon" concert (Aug 13) The Lord Discography lists it so (with quintet - Moye added) while the liner notes to the Charly CD lists the date as October 5, 1969 (quartet) Any AEC buffs able to clear this up for me?
  5. The very first batch of US RVG's (1999 I think, not sure how many, I'm not at home at present) came in cardboard slipcases - not sure how many had the covers (probably the first run of the first issue) - above is the slipcase cover
  6. The Blake & Mitchell sets are the most appealing to me Duplication between sets is starting to bug me - the Roach set has Birth & Rebirth plus Historic Concerts -> both of these are in the Braxton & Taylor sets respectively - why did they only release 6 LPs in the Roach set - he has 11 Soul Notes (or maybe more) - maybe they'l do a second box? The Mitchell set also has overlaps (Abrams & Lewis)
  7. I suppose my best recent Mosaic buy was the Columbia Piano Moods 7CD set (complete with box & booklet) bought locally here in Brisbane for Aus $24.99 9.99 is truly a bargain for the Thad Jones set!! I managed to score the complete Quebec/Hardee set in Sydney in the late 90's for about $30, vinyl though so had to digitalise it Mosaics tend to go cheap here in Australia - many of the shops don't really know what they are I was in Western Australia earlier this year & I found a mint Johnny Mercer Mosaic Select for $15 - I actually offered to give the shop owner $20
  8. The Herman Foster "Have You Heard" session is being released on CD later this year (October) in Japan - part of the Sony reissue series http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/products?term.media_format=&q=herman+foster
  9. LOL!! (Labour Of Love)
  10. has the Tapscott almost sold out? - knew it would be a good seller
  11. no fingerprints on any of the discs in my set - amazingly I snapped that very disc (#2) when I first received the set - just trying to get it out (almost fainted) Had to get a replacement from Mosaic
  12. I'm in the same situation, having most of the black digipak series but the Vogue Box is aesthetically "gorgeous" & a great price too
  13. knew it would happen eventually!!
  14. no pics of the covers for the first 2 frames (latest 100) on my web browsers (Safari & Firefox) - frames 3, 4 & 5 are OK (previous releases) have no idea what the releases are tried CD Japan future releases - not listed there yet
  15. does this help?
  16. lets try again - hopefully I can remember how I worded this (was deleted with the upgrade attempt) been listening to "Sweet Honey Bee" It sounds soooo good! - much improved on the US RVG I've been replacing my pre RVG BN CD's (or ones I didn't already have) with their SHM equivalents but generally holding onto my US RVG's (though have got the SHM Monks, Jackson, Davis, Brown, Johnson & releases that contain extra unreleased material) Any advice or consensus on what SHM's sound significantly better than their RVG (US) counterparts - have gone through the last 39 frames & have some ideas
  17. What a shock!! RIP Ornette
  18. I think this has all been previously released on LG's Dragon & Sonet CDs

    Hum Dono

finally opted for the vinyl version (we'll see how it sounds with my new tube/valve amp) - pity they don't include a digital download with the purchase
  20. got a copy of this from Jazz Messengers a few days ago - SQ is very good (compared the originally released titles on official CD to this boot & sound is equivalent) Was very cheap considering its a 6CD set - in sturdy/glossy "clam box"
  21. Currently reading the Havers "Uncompromising Expression" Blue Note publication & he mentions that some of the early BN LP's go up to $5000 - but this figure is insane!! Who buys these LPs - Japanese collectors?
  22. Import Cds have the first 6 (of 25) listed $11.25 for singles & $15.26 for the double http://www.importcds.com/advancedsearch?aar=&aal=&aso=&ala=elemental+music&agn=&afrom=&ato=&afmt_cd=true&afmt_mdvd=true&afmt_lp=true&afmt_sacd=true&afmt_dd=true&afmt_other=true&mod=AM&r=1 I'll be grabbing some of these
  23. Found an excellent detailed breakdown of the session on Noal Cohen's Lucky Thompson Discography site It's already been updated with the new CD/LP releases http://www.attictoys.com/LuckyThompson/Lucky_Thompson_discography3.php (look for Nov 25, 1960) Wow!! this is a killer NDR live in studio session - ranges from trio to octet performances
  24. Looks like it's going to be a reissue of Cadillac LP 1003 (Stan Tracey Alone At Wigmore Hall) with the previously unreleased duo material added Would love Hazel to rerelease (on CD) the Ogun Tracey/Osborne duo session - Tandem: Live At The Bracknell Jazz Festival 1976
  25. cheers The other thread on this site gives Rega turntables a good rap - maybe I should just go for the RP78
