NEW CD now available for pre-oder
Eric replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Jim, Placed an order but could not find a track list. Would you mind to point me in the right direction? Sounds very interesting. Thanks, Eric -
I adore My Point Of View and in particular, "A Tribute To Someone". The absolutely perfect "softer side of hard bop" track. The tune is so tuneful and just plain gorgeous - I love the way it alternates between Byrd and Mobley in the head. Their solos as well as Herbie's are in the pocket perfect. The "Blind Man" is great fun and nice to hear Grant Green on the track. "King Cobra" and "The Pleasure Is Mine" seem to be moving in the direction of Empyrean and Maiden.

Looks like there is also a Hancock set: Herbie Hancock

Thanks for the post. My favorite Lonnie Smith album - title track is just a killer.

Thanks for alerting us.

Have to back and watch all of it, but I am struck by how young Wes looks. Hard to believe he died shortly after the interview.

I have listened a few times through. It really is beautiful music - well said.

Interesting - are there other titles in the series? -

What was the other title - can't recall? -
Digitizing vinyl and listening to hi-rez. An interesting article on 192/24.

You know, we did not, but a friend in Miami county did. Actually he and his wife felt the bed shake. He tried to take credit ... -

Excellent points. I forgot, I have a couple of those too Another bonus with Apple TV ... if connected to a TV, you get a nice display of the cover art on your screen. Note the actual resolution is better than appears in the photo. -

Same thing here, set up in six different rooms of the house. You can play the same music multiple rooms at once (i.e. "rock the house" mode) and/or everyone can you do own thing in their own room, simultaneously. The little-known, little-hyped Apple Airport Express makes all this work seamlessly. http://goo.gl/PywSK3 -
yeah, that is a good one ...

I like this one - cover says orchestra, but I recall the strings to be nimble and complimentary: The relatively new album uses a string quartet on a few tracks - very nice:

Mosaic Brochures....Who wants them?

Cool! -
Love it. And this was in 1985, before the rest of the world (well our world) was saying it. A professional career very, very well done.

At least we will be able to get "Ready for Freddy" with the newly found corrected title ... I wonder why they are calling it quits? In retrospect, they were pretty conservative with the titles - and very little from the Liberty era. Only one Bobby Hutcherson record. OTOH, they did bring out a number of "Japanese 1st issue" titles - Grant Green was well served in this regard.

Yeah, I have noticed the same thing. Of course I, like you undoubtedly, once owned a transistor radio. That was the shit back in the day. I am sometime pleasantly surprised at how good my phone sounds. Good music always sounds good though.

Very interesting. Was headed downstairs to grab a couple Belden CDs (thanks again Larry) and will also grab "A Tribute ..." plus my Tom Williams CD on Criss Cross. I linked through to his site ... his Freddie Hubbard story is something else. Man, time flies ...

Cool - thanks for the tip. Grabbed a copy at Amazon for $0.32.

You watch this and just say "damn, why don't more people 'get' jazz" ... musically and visually it is just so damn cool ...
