  1. Wow, what a great deal.
  2. I will pre-order this one as well.
  3. ??? Any number of threads on this forum (and elsewhere) seem to indicate quite the contrary. At least to me. They're not spending enough money That would seem to be the answer because for some reason net revenues are not exceeding expenditures.
  4. Closing facilities and cutting employees costs are two favorite ways for companies to cut costs. Warehouses eat up rent, insurance and taxes. By outsourcing order fulfillment, they're probably saving a lot of money, including employee costs, which include salaries and benefits. Whether that's enough, who knows. They also are apparently in a hobby where people are not spending a lot of money. Other hobbies are thriving even in this economy and unfortunately for Mosaic jazz afficionados are not spending money.
  5. I have to agree that justification was pretty lame; almost like a PR person wrote it.
  6. I think there are more important things to worry about although I can't say I'm crazy about it. If she did it for the money, considering the amount of money the Lennon Estate must have or had have, now, that's an issue.
  7. Sounds fascinating Allen.
  8. Sorry to hear that Jeff. I guess my son's school system is lucky (at least so far). In sixth grade he was part of the school band (clarinet). However, people are making noise about cutting costs here and there. I guess people don't understand how important music is.
  9. Me too. Big Happy, Birthday Al! Me three Al!

    Neil Young

Don't have enough of his stuff but his work in Springfield is excellent as is the Fillmore East Cd. He has a very distinctive voice that has managed to survive after all these years.
  11. Congratulations on your impending marriage!
  12. Nice article about Justin Heyward in today's Times. See http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/03/sports/baseball/03mets.html?ref=baseball. Funny last line in the article: "His family is from Queens, he loves the Yankees and he hits long home runs for the Braves. Sounds like a bad combination for the Mets." Had me crackin' up.
  13. This may be a dumb question but where do you think British groups (more rockers than not I think) like the Animals and 10 Years After fit in with the question raised by Allen today?
  14. Fantasy didn't do that so I wouldn't expect Concord to do it either.
  15. I've got a Rein De Graaf CD, Now's the Time (on the Timeless label) that I got from Stateside. I believe it's a collection of Rein with different players. I haven't listened to it in a few years but it's got Dexter on it. Great Cd.

    Headphones

These headphones look pretty expensive; a quick search came up with $295.
  17. The Dinner one but the one with the covers is pretty much of a time waster. However, some of these are akin to Twitter, which is probably pretty much of a time waster in and of itself.
  18. Yeah, that's happened to me. The best laid plans.....
  19. Again, this just shows how prescient Chuck was a few years ago (seems like another lifetime now) when Fantasy was acquired.
  20. Clapton always seems in conflict as what he wants to be: a bluesman or one appealing to wider audiences. He seems to go back and forth. Perhaps his more successful pop aspects allow him to indulge in his blues predilections: a loss leader if you will.
  21. Happy Birthday Dex. Him and Wardell, a pair to be cherished.
  22. I guess I'd label this coincidence but I was just over at our local library and I borrowed the following Cd: Muddy Waters The Johnny Winter Sessions 1976-1981, an amalgam or best of the music they made together. One of the tunes, which made me laugh out loud, is The Blues Had a Baby and They Named it Rock and Roll
  23. In my pedestrian way, are you saying that there is only so much that these rockers or any other person could absorb without having lived the experiences that brought about the blues?
