  1. The Lee Wiley is a good one - I need to dig it out again from the racks.
  2. Well - I've heard enough bands play that tune live over the years so it qualifies as as standard in my book.
  3. 'Solid Gold Cadillac' (UK RCA)
  4. Foxy Knoxy John Knox John Foxx
  5. 'So Near So Far' - Tony Crombie
  6. The one time I got to see Stanley T. play live he did some of the material from that album. Jazz Alley in Seattle.
  7. Thanks - Must admit that in many years of gigs in Exeter that is the first time it has ever happened to me. The area around Barnfield was just mayhem, park n ride would have been the only realistic option. Of course, what I didn't realise was that the Westbrook gig coincided with Xmas late shopping night. I'll console myself with a few listens to the fine 2 CD set this weekend.
  8. Larry Young 'Unity' (BN NY USA mono)
  9. Well - I was looking forward to seeing the Westbrook band at the Barnfield tonight. Unfortunately the lack of parking and traffic congestion near the venue conspired against me. Unprecedented gig disaster...
  10. Seeing this thread again gave me a good laugh !
  11. Exmoor - some weird micro-climates up there..
  12. UK Transatlantic issue of 'All American'. Looks like the same basement Monk went underground in !
  13. Sugar Plum Fairy Candy Man Milky Bar Kid
  14. John Taylor Ray Warleigh Nat Peck Bob Belden Don Rendell
  15. Superlative reissue, strongly recommended !
  16. Joe Henderson 'Our Thing' (BN NY USA mono, DG side 1) Fantastic album with what must be Andrew Hill's greatest sideman performance.
  17. Let's hope she doesn't log onto this site..
  18. Not to forget that Bowie took saxophone lessons back in the day with Ronnie Ross of 'Cleopatra's Needle' fame.
  19. At last, a chance to pick up that 'Blue Train' album everyone is talking about...
  20. Peter Purves John Noakes Shep
  21. Spot on...The pigeons are already crapping on my study window, which means it must be Spring !
  22. Happy Birthday David, thanks for all your great broadcast shows.
  23. This thread brings back memories. I remember seeing Don Menza featured with - I'm pretty sure - Woody Herman back in the late 1970s. Ronnie Scott's. In fact he was one of the first tenor players I ever heard on record - on Buddy Rich 'Mercy Mercy Mercy' - Channel 1 Suite.
