I recommend any of you over the age of about 55 to ask your doctor to get your cardiac calcium score. It's a simple CT of your heart and even if your health insurance won't cover it, it only costs about $150 out of pocket. My cousin Dan recommended I get it done because of my family history and my lifelong battle with high cholesterol. His dad (my uncle) had to get two triple bypass surgeries before he was 45. At the age of 54, Dan got his cardiac calcium score & it was 700. One of his arteries was 95% blocked. A week later, he got a quadruple bypass. I decided it was better to be proactive so I had it done. My score was over 1200! A cardiac catheritization showed that I have some pretty significant blockages but they are not recommending surgery so here I am - diet & exercise. Thank god I retired in 2023 or the stresses at work may have already killed me. -

Yes Japanese Jazz gets talked about a fair bit on the forum I'd say. There's at least one dedicated thread. https://www.organissimo.org/forum/topic/76926-japanese-jazz/#comment-1412116 Also the "listening to" threads often feature Japanese musicians as leaders and in bands. Gets played a fair deal in this house too

I don't think that any specific info has been released--there was talk from Mosaic about a second big band cd set possible, not sure that there was more mentioned from the source other than "possible" or in the consideration stage. EDIT TO ADD: The only mention I have found of it is in this, the first post of the thread: (Scott Wenzel quoted) "Another thing I’m working on now is a collection of small-group V-Discs. That will be out in the summer, I hope, featuring all sorts of small group things. And then next year, we’ll probably be putting together a V-Discs big band collection. It was owned by the government, so it’s all public domain.” -
Shame Vocalion Dutton gave up on modern jazz. At one stage they had a great British jazz catalogue, excellent production values.
