Maybe for non-musical purposes. I remember the good people at Mosaic telling me many, many years ago that the maximum duration of music CDs (at the time) was 74 minutes or thereabout.

Compared to other internet stores their prices were pretty high. That may have contributed to their current situation.

Just got that e-mail. Although I didn't buy much from them (can't remember the last time), it's a shame to see them go. I think it's a wise decision, though, if it helps Mosaic to stay in business.

Then a question for you. Why do you show us photo of individual recordings with performers, conductors included? Why not just post the name of the composer and the composition? Note that public-domain labels like for instance Jazz Factory and Proper have no access to original sources like metal parts, mastertapes and what have you. Their releases are usually sourced from 78s, vinyl and CDs. If you're looking for a pitch-corrected CD release of the 1/10/1947 Roost date you need the Complete Blue Note and Roost Recordings 4CD-set that was released by Blue Note, as was said above.

The Braxton Marsh reissue does indeed have fewer tracks (10) than the original hat release (12). Does anyone have any idea why? By the way, the piano still sounds out-of-place to me.

Couldn't agree more; that's also my main objection, as I've said ad nauseam on this board.
