Terrible news. I had hoped to connect with him on a project this fall but it didn't come together. What a legacy.

Horrible news. What a wonderful soul. One of my absolute favorites. Will be sorely missed!

First met him back in the middle '70s - very nice fellow.

He was also a great accompanist as displayed in these discs:

Very sorry to hear this sad news.

By coincidence just played his solo at Maybeck CD yesterday.

RIP - Such sad news.

I didn't see him live often, but at least once with The Cookers and maybe at the Chicago Jazz Fest as well.

This is a big shock. He was playing fantastically well at that Strata East London concert several years ago (2016?) and looked in good shape then. RIP, a great talent and a very nice guy by all accounts.

His ‘Maybeck’ is one of my favourites in that series. Superb.

Very sad to read this. He shared so much beautiful music with us. Rest easy, and thank you.

I saw him live once with the Heath Brothers in the 70s. RIP for a true artist.
