Wow!! I always thought they were legit - have been buying their material (CDs) since the early 90s the bootlegging probably relates to the Revisited series (11xx) - admittedly I have been perplexed by the Blue Note & OJC inclusions https://www.discogs.com/label/171702-REVISITED

Just received a batch of the Hat Hut ezz-thetics Revisited CDs (via Tommy's Jazz & Squidco) This live Horace S Quintet (64-66) is absolutely superb (including SQ) from a stellar period in his career. It's basically a compilation of live tracks that Horace released on the Emerald label (one LP & one CD), which was a subsidiary of Silveto. The whole of Emerald CD 1003 (Half Note) is replicated (sans the Alan Grant Intro) & two tracks (of 4) from the Emerald LP 1001 (Cork & Bib) making 80 minutes in toto. For Joe Henderson fans it's a real bonus - standout track imho is The Tokyo Blues (Cork & Bib) running in at 15 minutes. BTW the Emerald CD was rereleased on the 32 Jazz label, titled Re-Entry. Looks like the two Cork & Bib titles are on CD for the first time.

R.I.P. John Pochee Legendary Australian jazz drummer passed (82) earlier this month - he had been part of the australian jazz scene since the late 50s John with fellow journeyman Bernie McGann (alto) played together on many sessions (early 60s to mid 2000s). He also formed/organised the large group Ten Part Invention https://www.smh.com.au/national/the-heart-that-shone-through-the-music-20221122-p5c0ab.html Sydney Morning Herald link above

One of my fav compilations is the 14CD set released by Universal France in 2011 "The Complete American Masters, 1931-53" (it does include "Days Beyond Recall"). I remember it being quite affordable/cheap at the time. Excellent transfers

anyone listened to the Jazz In Britain Tubby Hayes 2CD set "Live At The Hopbine '69?" Track 4 on disc 2, "Walkin" with outro/band intro appears to be duplicated ie tagged onto the end of track 3 "Vierd Blues" On both the CD release plus the download

The Sun Ra (Sonny Blount) 14CD set "Eternal Myth" has at least 24 tracks covering Flip with the Red Saunders Orchestra (Sonny as arranger) from the early 50s

also missed the CD release but opted for the vinyl (late Dec release) & have received an immediate download - AIFF's onto a CDr & the music is stunning

unfortunately Martin has no more copies of his recent rerelease of Karyobin & is not considering reissue at this stage. Contacted him earlier this year regarding this CD. http://www.emanemdisc.com/cd-stevens.html#5046

I'm surprised Tony Oxley's first Incus LP (#8, 1971 & 75) "Tony Oxley" has never been reissued - what a lineup - Rutherford/Parker/Bailey/Oxley - I'd say Tony Oxley owns the master tapes - maybe he isn't happy with the recording? I asked Martin Archer who had recently released (CD) on his label (Discus) the later Oxley Incus LP "February Papers" (#18). He claimed that someone will be releasing this in the near future but no details (what about Corbett vs Dempsey?) were forthcoming Also the RCA album "Ichnos" from the same period & with a stellar lineup has never made it to CD either

romualdo replied to Fer Urbina's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Isn't the correct LP master (tk #12) on the 1991 Euro CD (469140-2) of SST while it's tk #1 on the US 1999 (65568) disc plus the box set -
not to forget the german scene (I was very into) '73 alumni - Can (Future Days), Faust (Faust IV & Faust Tapes), Kraftwerk (Ralph & Florian), Neu (Neu 2)

what a crock!!! I've been a small animal veterinarian for over 35 years & have seen dogs older than this, particularly Australian Cattle Dogs -
Thanks - BTW, Zack is not even mentioned in Leonard Feathers Encyclopaedia of Jazz Musicians (first edition)

I've recently scored the three Commodore Mosaic boxes & am gradually mining the lode & digitalising what I already don't have on CD. Came across George Zack who recorded most of his short lived output at Commodore (7 sessions & a total of 50 tracks, just under two & a half hours of outstanding Chicago "Barrel-House" duos (mostly with Wettling and some with Danny Alvin). He was one of Gabler's favourites according to the booklet notes - unfortunately he was a chronic alcoholic & spent most of the recording sessions juiced & wasn't able to play in groups (there was the disasterous Wild Bill Davison session where Dick Cary had to sub for him - he only recorded on a couple of the titles). His last session was in 1951 (Jimmy James in Chicago), then he disappeared I presume due to his affliction he didn't see out his later years?

hoping that one day we'll get the Ra Transition release redone with the extra tracks that were on the acetate found a few years back
