yeah, I need to get that Practitioners material. Solo Lacy is my favorite, too. The Japanese soli are probably the apex for me but that said, there are certainly some Lacy soli that I haven't heard or spent enough time with (especially later).

I think that my overall favorite in the idiom is Steve Lacy. I like them all, but my favorite might be Hocus Pocus—Book 'H' of "Practitioners Their beginning as etudes and Lacy's expansion of them really highlights the unpredictable inevitability that is imo the core of Lacy's art.

No dates are listed on the sleeve, but it appears that Ousley re-used two cuts from The Kid! (Cobblestone, 1972) on The People's Groove.  Tracks A3 ("Me & Bobby McGhee," edited) and B3 ("The Kid!," identical) appear on both LPs, and the personnel is the same as well.  Per Discogs, Ousley recorded these two cuts on 03/28/1972. Does anyone have more insight into the recording dates for the other five cuts on The People's Groove?
