  1. YES, always!
  2. Say Jim, since you have the issue handy, would you mind to post the Greg Tate article? 😊. Half, kidding, I am guessing it is in one of his reader books. Back to Ornette, I love “Of Human Feelings” which I have never seen on CD. Any other favorite harmolodic albums?
  3. Yes this is fantastic. Maybe the Bud I reach for most often. Sound quality of the “who cares” variety. Just a joy to listen to.
  4. Wow - continue to re-visit the live set. Not a huge fan of the studio material from this era, but this thing smokes. The group is very tight and must have been a blast to see live. Not at all poppy or "locked in the 80s". Definitely genre-hopping, kind of this very taut, very in your face funk/blues/jazz/rock mix. Not nearly as dense as his mid-70s bands, but I see much more of a linear connection to those bands than the contemporaneous studio bands convey.
  5. Same here.
  6. Thanks for the update Jim!
  7. Same here. I embrace most places with the funk/fusion thing going on, but this sounds pretty stale.
  8. Thank-you - never seen that one before - picked it up for $4.00 at discogs!
  9. Thanks Rick - just donated/ordered.
  10. Jim, thanks for taking this on and for 19.5 years of goodness!!
  11. John - is this the one? Thanks https://www.amazon.com/Revolver-Special-Deluxe-2-CD/dp/B0B7SK4117/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2SKT4KWH65ONJ&keywords=revolver&qid=1667096164&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1Ljc4IiwicXNhIjoiNS4zOCIsInFzcCI6IjEuODUifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=revolver%2Caps%2C115&sr=8-2
  12. Hey Dan, nice article!! http://nycjazzrecord.com
  13. I only got around to mine just now …
  14. Based on your recommendation, I bought this. It is delightful!

    Roy Hargrove

Is it one of these? I have one of them, but can’t recall which. https://www.discogs.com/artist/671067-The-Jazz-Networks I was conducting the same exercise as you.
  16. Yessir, thank-you. Off to update my donation!
  17. Agree. All of them have some major element of yellow tint. Don't care much for the Roy Brooks either.
  18. So I have been aware of him since the 80s, but never took the plunge. Any recommended starting points, or is he more of a sideman? Thanks!
  19. I snagged one. Let me know if anybody needs it, I have a backup. Carmell Jones, Bobby Watson, Nathan Davis, all Kansas City guys.
  20. On The Corner is not perfect - it can be repetitive and a bit clunky. BUT, I find it to be a fun, fascinating listen. Great headphones album. This was not some poppy sell-out record. I am a huge fan of Remain In Light by the Talking Heads and find some similarities - they both have this dense mix of underbrush that is a blast to listen to.
  21. Yes, that one is stellar, need to revisit soon!
  22. Huge fan over the past 40 years, but zero interest in this. I have a fondness for the “best of” Human Touch and Lucky Town. For me, much more enjoyable than Born in the USA, which I think is pretty weak. Magic is pretty good and the aforementioned Girls In Their Summer Clothes is a favorite for me too. Edit: I do not get Western Stars at all either. It is sacred at the other board, but then ...
  23. Fortunately Bandcamp gives you a good chance to audition!
