Thanks for the tip - was able to download the whole session (over 2 hours of master & alternate takes) as MP3's from you tube. The chatter before, after & during the various takes is a bonus for me (hear very little of that on official released material). Lee is on fire here. Enjoying this......

how do you get a hold of this type of material ie unreleased Blue Note tracks/sessions? I have traded unreleased live/soundboard/broadcast material, Coltrane session stuff (was broadcast on radio though) etc etc but I've never seen unreleased Blue Note material on my searches - maybe I havn't looked hard enough

Anyone have any further/updated information re the source/mastering for this series (UCQ-9500) - was discussed earlier in the thread before the CDs were released. I can't find any details on the Universal Japan site, CD japan site.

Hat Compilations of Marion Brown and Albert Ayler
romualdo replied to David Ayers's topic in Re-issues
Looks like the Ayler one will be the complete two Debut (Danish) LPs "Witches & Devils" & "Ghosts" which were released in the US/UK on Arista/Freedom as "Witches & Devils" & "Vibrations" respectively -

So is this the end of the line for these wonderful box sets - 45 AFAI can ascertain I was hoping for so many more -
Basil Kirchin's legendary Columbia LP, "Worlds within Worlds" has finally had a reissue via Trunk Records (run of 1600 LPs & no CD/digital version, ATS?) https://trunkrecords.greedbag.com/buy/worlds-within-worlds-parts-one-a/ Jonny Trunk is a big fan of Basil & has access to his tape library - he has been releasing Basil's material (previously released & unreleased) over the years (LP & CD). This is one of BK's recordings I've been waiting for - lots of Evan Parker (ts & ss) plus Derek Bailey. The original Columbia LP sells for triple figures (thousands) - it's been hyped up the the "Diskaholiks" (Mats Gustafsson, Thurston Moore, Jim O'Rourke)

The Australian Rufus label contains a lot of McGann material/CD releases. His other Emanem LP "Kindred Spirits" has been rereleased via Rufus. http://www.rufusrecords.com.au/artists/mcgann.html

One of Bernie's best but has never been released on CD. Lloyd Swanton (one of the Necks) originally financed the session & has the tapes.

Sun Ra "Monorails and Satellites Vols. 1, 2 and 3"
romualdo replied to soulpope's topic in New Releases
just received the 2CD set today - I presume it came with a booklet (unfortunately mine didn't) - all my other Cosmic Myth CDs have associated mini booklets the set was sealed & stickered - maybe it was never included? Anyone else had the same problem. Bought my copy from Import CDs - don't really want to return it (they have a bothersome return policy) can't seem to find any contact details for the label either -
If it's his aortic valve, he may not even require open heart surgery (chest cracked) - he may get a TAVI aortic valve (newish technology) where it's inserted via one of the femoral (leg) arteries - seats over the old valve which does not need to be removed.

Scott was very very very special to me - he never looked back & surfed that wave of progressiveness/avant garde right till the end. He never "sold out" IMHO. Wow!! he even had one of my jazz heroes, Evan Parker contribute to his 1983 LP "Climate of Hunter". RIP Scott

Yep, big fan of the Syd Barrett years - lost interest after "Wish You Were Here". I've never actually listened to "The Wall" except for bits I've heard on the radio (not that impressed). "Interstellar Overdrive" is one of the great tracks of the 60s IMHO.

The Dream Syndicate and the Paisley Underground
romualdo replied to felser's topic in Recommendations
Ah "Radio Birdman" (Aloha Steve & Danno) - now we're going back to the 70's & you cannot forget "The Saints" - both punk legends & predating the Sex Pistols, The Saints (remember "Stranded") originated from my home town, Brisbane & are all my vintage. Ed Kuepper (ex Saints, Laughing Clowns - now that's a great aussie band) moved back here quite a few years ago & is still very active on the music scene. -
I forgot about this post I made back in 2015 but I eventually met Mary (plus Sylvie Courvoisier) when they played to a handful of people at "The Owl" in Brooklyn back in September 2017. My partner & I sat at the very front & they both allowed me to take photographs during the performance. Also, it was a real buzz talking to both of them at the bar afterwards. Totally no shit/pretension from either. They were lovely.

The Dream Syndicate and the Paisley Underground

I had so much of that US Paisley underground material plus the Aussie & NZ equivalents on original vinyl (including the legendary NZ label Flying Nun) but sold much of it through the 90s to feed my jazz habit (which was voracious) "Under The Milky Way" LP & single were huge "indie" hits in Australia but as you say that was much later in the Church's career (early 90s)
