sidewinder
Â Not much to add but this is pretty devastating news. RIP, a huge legacy. Very strange coincidence but right as I read this news I was replaying film of him on the TV playing with Miles in 1969 in that Ronnie Scott documentary. Brad
One of the greats but age gets us all. RIP. His time with Art Blakey was magical. Now they all belong to the ages.
mjazzg
Just such a great legacy. Sad but he did seem to be more frail each time he was in public recently. 89 years, that's a good innings.

ghost of miles
When you think about the breadth and duration of his career--not to mention the talent--Wayne belongs in a very, very small group of musicians that includes Duke Ellington, Mary Lou Williams, and Miles Davis. His legacy is immense. What a blessing that he stopped here on the planet for as long as he did.
